Lines and Cells 2020 Part Four

I started to conceive this piece in June during one of the taught workshops with visiting lecturer Anna Ray. I blogged about this here.

The final piece is yet to emerge from this process. For now the version it is currently taking is shown below

Next steps

Take the piece into the postgraduate studio and see how it works in a different space.

I want to embed structure into the piece as a paper sculpture to allow the curve I had managed to get in the maquette. I am going to do some further technical trials to see how this will work.

I will make this in varying materials too, looking at thickness of paper. I also am thinking of making a fibreglass version and have already made some inquiry into this with the technicians at the University of Hertfordshire 3D2.

Further more, I will make further paper cut sculptures from the proposals made in Practice One. I would like to make some very large scale mono prints like the maquettes see link above and them fold them into paper sculpture.
